Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.  Mark 11:24

Emmaus and Prayer

Those that have been on a Walk to Emmaus have heard these words at Closing: “We began praying for you long before this weekend. Before we knew who you were we were praying for you. In fact, you have been bathed in prayer over this weekend.”

I remember hearing those words and getting goosebumps. They were so powerful to hear. People whom I did not know were praying over me!  Imagine that?

I believe that the power of prayer is one of the most potent tools God has given us in our spiritual toolbox. What is it about prayer that makes it so powerful? Prayer is a way to connect us to the one that cares the most about us. Our eternal Father in Heaven!  We can praise the one who made us, combat fear, lift those up around us, help others heal, and comfort those in need. What can be better than that?

Upcoming Fall Walks to Emmaus

As we get ready for the upcoming Walks to Emmaus this fall, I am asking the whole community to lift up our Indianapolis Emmaus Community in prayer. Please pray for the leadership, the clergy, the teams, the sponsors and specifically, pray about those who will be pilgrims. Attached to this blog are Save the Date Cards for the upcoming Walks. Please download them, print them, pray over them, hand them out or simply put them out around your church (Save the Date). There are people out there right now that need this weekend experience.

The Prayer Vigils

Sign up to pray on the prayer vigils for each of the Walks.  The vigils are available on SignUpGenius.com.  You can search for them by using our email address [email protected].  This is an amazing way to be part of the weekend if you can’t be there.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

For those that have not worked a Walk for a bit, do you remember the Prayer to the Holy Spirit?  By the end of your weekend, you have this prayer memorized.  Today, I ask you to pray this prayer with me and lift up all the amazing things God has in store for this community.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in us the fire of Your love.  Send forth Your Spirit and we shall be created.  And You shall renew the face of the earth.

O, God, Who by the light of the Holy Spirit did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy Your consolations.   Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Let’s be part of helping God renew the face of the earth!

DeColores and keep praying!
